Museums of Val Camonica
Museum of rural life, Bienno.
This museum mill, located in a building of the year 1400, is still in all parts in original shape. In ancient times Bienno got rich because of their waters which operated various sawmills, forges, carpentry and mills.
These mills were operated with the same principle of water power which operated their forge hammer. Even today you can look at the two stone-made mills while grinding grain. It is impressive to see how the river is canalized and cascades at the wheel which is operating the mill made of volcanic rock.

This museum forge is a huge rectangular building with a floor of battered earth, high walls black with smoke. At the outside a huge wheel is operated with the river's waters. All tools of a forge are present: pliers, shovels, pots and buckets. In one of the rooms you find a collection of minerals found in the neighborhood, in parts antique.
